Waterford's Breeda Cullinan has won a major award by being named as the AA Bean an Tí of the Year. The award is the most prestigious that can be won by the proprietor of a Guesthouse, Farmhouse or B&B, and it was announced this evening at a ceremony in the Guinness Gravity Bar in Dublin. The ceremony was attended by leading figures in Irish Tourism, including Minister Seamus Brennan who presented Breeda with her award.
Breeda is the proprietor of Sliabh gCua Farmhouse, located between the Comeragh and Knockmealdown Mountains in County Waterford, and she is its heart and soul.
"Breeda is a real treasure, full of the warm hospitality that is in the very best tradition of the Irish people and of our tourist industry." Says AA membership director Dennis Fisk. "The Bean an Ti is the real Irish host, full of charm and character, who can really make her guests feel at ease and feel welcomed. There's no one better than Breeda Cullinan."
The AA has received many letters from Breeda's guests and they all confirm what Inspector's have seen first hand. Whether she is preparing her marvellous breakfasts or chatting to her guests about family histories in Waterford, she is a great example of a great Irish tradition, and a worthy winner of the award of AA Bean an Ti of the Year.
